Mass and prayer cards are a way to show physical appreciation and support for guests of a mass, service, or memorial. But how do you go about buying Catholic Mass Cards? What should you know before you create them? There are a few key things to consider, as well as what makes a Catholic Mass Card different from other prayer cards.
While prayer cards can be fully customized to your liking, Catholic Mass Cards tend to have one of a few traditional prayers on them. Catholic Mass Cards are typically structured, and the same prayers are often repeated each time.
Catholic Mass Cards may highlight current readings or call attention to events going on around the world in need of prayer. The same imagery and sentiments are appropriate for all Catholic Mass Cards. Yet, Catholic Mass Cards made for an event other than a mass or funeral will feature prayers or verses that focus on themes other than death.
Mass Cards are an essential part of expressing both care and condolences for memorial attendees. Even if someone cannot attend the mass or funeral, you can send Catholic condolences or other wishes easily in the mail.
Homemade Catholic Mass Cards can be just as authentic if you make them with care and attention. However, one benefit of buying them from a parish or Catholic retailer is that a Priest will bless them. You can have peace of mind that you are upholding traditions and getting the card straight from the source.
Catholic Mass Cards and other prayer cards were historically made by hand. Paper had to be created, cut, and even pressed or embossed. These cards were often painted with delicate imagery or embellished with gold leaf, fabric, or gems.
The Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card is how DTA delivers its core services: food and economic assistance. Once you qualify for food benefits through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and/or economic assistance through Transitional Aid to Families with Dependent Children (TAFDC) or Emergency Aid to the Elderly, Disabled, and Children (EAEDC), you can access them using an EBT card. It looks and works like a debit card. We keep your benefits in a special account for you until you want to use them. Your EBT card "talks" to the account to let you get and spend your benefit dollars in an easy, secure way. This guide tells you how.
During the process of applying for SNAP benefits or economic assistance, you will be issued an EBT card as soon as you verify who you are. Generally, all you have to do is tell us your Social Security number, if you have one.
You will receive your card in the mail. It may take 3-5 business days for your EBT card to arrive. You can track the delivery date on DTAConnect.com or the DTA Connect mobile app. You can visit one of our local offices to receive an EBT card if you need one more quickly. If you cannot visit an office, talk to our staff about other options.
PIN stands for Personal Identification Number. To use your EBT card, you must enter your 4 number secret PIN into the machine. Your PIN will arrive in the mail separately from your card. It may take 5-10 business days to arrive.
The PIN for your replacement card does not have to be the same as your old one but it will be the same unless you tell us you want a new PIN assigned to you. If you request a new PIN, it will be sent in the mail in a separate envelope from your replacement card. Your replacement card and PIN will arrive within 5-10 business days.
If you get 4 or more replacement EBT cards within 12 months you must talk with a case manager or investigator before getting a new card. Based on this discussion, DTA may investigate to ensure that there is no fraud. Selling your card or your benefits is illegal and can result in disqualifying you from benefits.
Massachusetts law requires the use of photo identification on the front of each EBT card. We will use the photo from your driver's license or other state-issued ID. If you don't have one, we will schedule a time for you to go to a DTA office to take a photo. You can still get a card and benefits while waiting to take your picture. You aren't subject to photo EBT requirements if you are:
If you have your TAFDC or EAEDC benefits directly deposited into a checking or savings account, you can use your ATM card like an EBT card. You may not have to pay fees for ATM withdrawals at that bank or other banks within that ATM network. Complete a Direct Deposit form and send the form to DTA to request direct deposit.
The EBT Card to Culture program provides discounted admissions to various museums and other educational and cultural institutions. As an EBT cardholder, you can get reduced or free admission by showing your card at any of the participating organizations.
It is a long-standing tradition in the Catholic Church for people to ask a priest to offer a Mass for the intentions of others both living and dead. Since 1581, the Jesuits in the Philippines have offered Masses for the dearly departed at the request of their loved ones. Since its foundation in 1950, the Philippine Jesuit Aid Association has offered Mass cards as keepsakes for Masses celebrated for the intention of the recipient if living or for their eternal repose if deceased. The donations received through these Mass cards have supported the formation of Jesuits from the Novitiate to ordination and through studies.
The faithful generally make an offering or donation for the Mass card. By their generosity, they associate themselves with Christ who offers himself completely for us in the Mass. The donation also shows gratitude for the priest celebrant, helps support ministries and apostolic works, and provides for the long years of formation of those preparing to be priests and brothers.
Online Mass cards are available through the website of the Philippine Jesuits at www.phjesuits.org. From the website, Mass cards can be sent through the Internet to recipients who can read the cards online or print them out. Those who create the Mass cards online can also print out the Mass cards themselves and give them personally. Click here for a sample all-occasion Mass card.
Choosing an online card also entitles the one who sends the card to an electronic tribute board for posting testimonials about the recipient. These online tributes can honor a birthday celebrant, congratulate a couple on their wedding anniversary, celebrate any special occasion, or invite eulogies to be posted about a loved one. 1.) In the donation page where you will be directed, make an offering of P500 or more using your credit card. (This suggested amount helps us cover our costs and allows you to make a contribution to our aged and infirm Jesuits, to the apostolic works of the Society of Jesus, or to the formation of the next generation of Jesuits.)
2.) After a few clicks, your donation will be processed, and you will be directed to a page where you can start creating your online Mass card. You will be guided through the process which will ask you to:
A Mass card, also known as a Mass offering card, memorial card or a remembrance card, is a greeting card given to someone to let them know that they, or a deceased loved-one, will be remembered and prayed for in the intentions at a Mass.
If you need a card, you can request one on DTA Connect, by calling the DTA Assistance Line, or by going to pick one up in person at any DTA office. If you urgently need a card and going in person to pick up a card is not a good option for you, ask a DTA supervisor or the DTA Ombuds office about options for overnight mail or other solutions.
There is no limit on the number of times per month you can use your EBT card to buy food as long as you have benefits on the card. There is no charge or fee when you use your EBT card to buy food. If you lose your EBT card, see Question 91.

Giving a Mass card, and with it the promise of the Eucharist being celebrated for a particular intention, has long been a way of expressing support, sympathy and care for a relative or friend or simply to thank God for favors received. You can request an announced or unannounced Mass to be said for a living or deceased family member, friend or loved one by coming in person to the Parish Office at 1723 Race Street, Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The offering for these Masses is $10 for each Mass. If you are not able to come in person you may do so via email by mailing in a check. Send your request to info@cathedralphila.org, please include the name of the person(s) for whom the Mass is being offered, state if living or deceased, and if you have a particular date you would like.
