Thiosemicarbazides have a delocalized charge and flexible structures which lead to a variety of coordination modes with great effect on their biological and structural properties [10,11,12]. Due to their excellent binding capability, they form complexes with zinc, iron, nickel, copper, and other metal cations [13,14,15]. Acyl/aryl thiosemicarbazide derivatives serve as chelating agents and form five-membered bidentate or NNS/NNO tridentate metal complexes with various metal ions [16]. Thiosemicarbazide complexes also find applications in ring-opening metathesis polymerization, biochemistry, analytical chemistry, and catalysis [17, 18]. From an analytical point of view, thiosemicarbazides and their substituted derivatives could be used as analytical reagents for the analysis of different metal ions [19]. Thiosemicarbazide and its derivatives are also utilized as intermediates for the synthesis of a wide range of five-membered heterocyclic compounds [20,21,22,23].
